Our Story...

THE ISLAND QUILTERS GUILD was founded in 1989 with a few friends getting together to learn how to quilt. The original members were Martha Little, Susan Southworth, Fran Lange (Moore), Mary Hogwood, Margaret Hollis, Jean Odom, and Judi Wheeler.

Today the Island Quilters Guild has developed programs, held workshops and completed community projects that reach far beyond their original expectations. The wonderful thing about the Quilt Guild is the friendships that have developed, as we enjoy learning to quilt in various methods and techniques. Some of our members live in the area all year, some live here only for a few months a year. The friendships remain all year.

Meetings are held at the Gulf Shores Activities Center in Gulf Shores, AL, on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 9:30 am - noon.  (Call Kim for current information - 334-790-2348.)

In March, the Guild celebrates its birthday. In December, the guild has an annual Christmas Party. Challenge quilts are judged in February. Through the year, various classes and other activities occur, with fun, friendship and sharing the love of quilting the main theme.

Happy Quilting!
